Goddard v. Farmers Ins. Co. of Oregon, 344 Or. 232 (2008)
Jeff represented the plaintiff in this case in which the Oregon Supreme Court addressed the constitutionality of the jury’s punitive damages verdict.

Dalton v. Robert Jahn Corp., 209 Or. App. 120 (2006)
Jeff represented the plaintiff in this case in which the Oregon Court of Appeals ordered specific performance of a settlement agreement.

Unified Western Grocers, Inc. v. Pricewaterhousecoopers, LLP, 204 Or. App. 673 (2006)
The Oregon Court of Appeals affirmed a verdict for the plaintiff in this professional negligence case. Jeff represented the successful plaintiff on appeal.

Shin v. Sunriver Preparatory School, Inc., 199 Or. App. 352 (2005)
The Oregon Court of Appeals affirmed a verdict for the plaintiff in this case for negligent infliction of emotional distress brought by a student against a preparatory school. Jeff represented the successful plaintiff on appeal.

Oregon Public Employees' Retirement Board v. Simat, Helliesen & Eichner, 191 Or. App. 408 (2004)
Jeff represented the plaintiff public employee pension fund on appeal from a $34.5 million judgment based on fraud. The Oregon Court of Appeals affirmed the judgment to pierce the corporate veil against the defendant real estate developers.

Pool v. Vanrheen, 297 F. 3d 899 (9th Cir. 2002)
Jeff represented the Multnomah County Sheriff in this Title VII case in which a commander challenged her demotion for publicly criticizing her boss. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed summary judgment for the defendant sheriff.

Westar Electric Co. v. Westar Acquisition Corp., 177 Or. App. 174 (2001)
Jeff represented the seller of an electric supply company. The Oregon Court of Appeals affirmed a summary judgment for the seller based on his interpretation of an earn-out provision in the sale contract.

Kofoed v. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 48, 237 F.3d 1001 (9th Cir. 2001)
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the district court’s summary judgment that Jeff’ client, Local 48, did not infringe plaintiffs’ rights under federal labor laws.

Midgett v. Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District, 254 F.3d 846 (9th Cir. 2001)
Jeff represented the public transit district Tri-Met in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The appellate court affirmed a summary judgment for Tri-Met on claims under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Portland 76 Auto/Truck Plaza, Inc. v. Union Oil Company of California, 153 F.3d 938 (9th Cir. 1998)
Jeff represented Unocal in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which reversed a multi-million dollar antitrust judgment against Jeff’s client under the Robinson-Patman Act.

McGanty v. Staudenraus, 321 Or. 532 (1995)
Jeff’s lawyering resulted in the refinement of three torts in Oregon; viz., intentional interference with economic relations, intentional infliction of severe emotional distress, and wrongful discharge.

Hampton Tree Farms, Inc. v. Jewett, 320 Or. 599 (1995)
Jeff represented a log supplier in a frequently cited case on judicial estoppel, the business tort breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of the duty of good-faith and fair dealing.

Patton v. J.C. Penney Co., 301 Or. 117 (1986)
Jeff represented the employer in this case that was for years the most-frequently-cited case on at-will employment in Oregon.
